Box Score Nashua, N.H. - The visiting Trinity College Bantams downed the Rivier College Raiders, 83-68, in women's basketball action this evening at Muldoon Gymnasium. Trinity improves to 14-8 with its fourth consecutive victory, while the Raiders lose their second in a row to drop to 17-5.
Four Bantam seniors reached double-digits in the win as forward Hannah Brickley (Melrose, Mass.) recorded 17 points and pulled down seven rebounds. Forward Shantel Hanniford (Nantucket, Mass.) collected a team high 8 rebounds and added 10 points. Center Emily Dixon (Norwood, Mass.) knocked down 5-of-7 shots from the field for 10 points, while F/G Taylor Murtaugh (New York, NY) contributed 16 points.
Junior Deanna Purcell (Hudson, N.H.) led the offense for the Raiders as she knocked down 6-of-16 from the floor and added six freebies for 19 total points. Purcell also collected six rebounds before she fouled out of the contest. Freshman Caitlyn Perry (Nashua, N.H.) added 15 points off the bench for Rivier while senior AJ Guidi (Derry, N.H.) contributed 11 points in 20 minutes of action.
Trinity led wire to wire, opening up a 20-10 lead with 10:35 left in the first half on a Brickley jumper, and holding a 35-30 lead at halftime. Rivier cut into the Bantam lead and trailed, 43-41, with 16:33 on the clock on a layup by Purcell. A Dixon jumper with 6:53 left opened Trinity's lead back up to double digits at 64-53, and a second Dixon bucket gave the Bantams a 69-57 lead a little over three minutes later. Trinity scored its final 14 points from the foul line, hitting 14 of 16 attempts down the stretch.
