Waltham, Mass. - Senior Elizabeth Gerber (Bethesda, Md.) was
part of close and critical points, teaming with senior tri-captain
Caroline Gagne (Excelsior, Minn.) for an 8-6 win at No. 3 doubles
and pulling out a 6-4, 5-7,7-5 victory at No. 5 singles to lead the
visiting Trinity College Bantams to a 5-4 win over the Brandeis
University Judges in women's tennis action this afternoon.
Trinity, ranked No. 14 in the nation, improves to 5-1 with its
third triumph in a row, while the No. 24-ranked Judges fall to 3-6
with their first loss in three matches.
Trinity sophomores Melita Ferjanic (Samobor, Croatia) and Morgan
Feldman (Upper Brookville, N.Y.) won, 8-4, at No. 1 doubles to give
the Bantams a 2-1 lead heading into singles play. Feldman and
senior Senzo Mauve-Maphisa (Bulawayo, Zimbabwe) won in straight
sets at No. 2 and No. 4, respectively, to allow Gerber the chance
to clinch the match.
