Hartford, Conn. – The Trinity women's tennis team fell to Middlebury, 7-2, on Saturday afternoon in New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) action. With the loss, the Bantams move to 8-4 on the season and 2-2 in league play, while the Panthers improved to 7-4 on the year and 2-1 in conference tilts.
The duo of Morgan Feldman (Upper Brookville, N.Y.) and Melita Ferjanic (Samobor, Croatia) earned the first point of the day for Trinity, taking their match at No. 1 doubles, 8-6. The Panthers would take the other two matches in doubles play to hold a 2-1 edge heading into singles action.
In singles, Senzo Mavune-Maphisa (Bulawayo, Zimbabwe) was the lone member of the Bantams to win. Mauve defeated Lily Bondy in straight sets, 7-5, 6-2, at No. 3. Middlebury took each of the five other matches to earn the triumph.
The women return to action tomorrow, April 13, traveling to square off with Williams in NESCAC play.
