BRUNSWICK, Maine - The Trinity College women's tennis team fell to Bowdoin, 5-0, in the opening round of the 2014 NESCAC Tournament Friday morning at Maine Pines Tennis Club.
With the win, the Polar Bears improve to 14-5 and advance to play Williams in the NESCAC semifinals Saturday morning at 8:00 a.m. The Bantams move to 9-7 this season with the loss.
Bowdoin took a 3-0 lead with a trio of doubles wins, as Emma Lewis and Joulia Likhanskaia put the Polar Bears on the board with a 8-1 win over
Melita Ferjanic (Samobor, Croatia)/
Morgan Feldman (Upper Bookville, N.Y.) at No. 1. The matches at No. 2 and No. 3 were much closer as Bowdoin took each, 8-5.
Caroline Gagne (Excelsior, Minn.) and
Elizabeth Gerber (Bethesda, Md.) lost at No. 2, while the duo of
Senzo Mavune-Maphisa (Bulawayo, Zimbabwe) and
Regan Cherna (Bronxville, N.Y.) fell at No. 3.
The Polar Bears sealed the win with victories at No. 5 and No. 6 singles.
