Box Score 2 Hartford, Conn. - Junior tri-captain MH Kate Giddens (Rancho
Palos Verdes, Calif.) lit up the stat sheet with game-highs of 15
kills and six aces to go with 20 digs and three blocks, leading the
Trinity College Bantams to a 3-1 victory over the visiting Endicott
College Gulls to close out a volleyball tri-match in Oosting
Gymnasium this afternoon. Trinity, which also dropped a 3-0
match to New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC)
rival Williams today, moves to 7-4 overall and 0-2 in the NESCAC.
Williams, ranked No. 3 in New England, improved to 9-1
overall and 2-0 in the league with 3-0 triumphs over both the
Bantams and the Gulls, while Endicott falls to 7-6.
Trinity edged Endicott in two close sets, 26-24, and 25-23, but
the Gulls rallied to take the a close third set, 25-23.
Trinity put the match away with a 25-20 win in set four to
snap a three-match losing skid. Junior tri-captain RS Hunter
Drews (Clifton Park, N.Y.) added 12 kills, 12 digs, three blocks,
and two aces to the Bantam cause, while junior S Gina Buzzelli
(Cheshire, Conn.) amassed 28 assists, and rookie Grace Metry
(Grosse Pointe Park, Mich.) contributed 22 digs. Tori
McIntyre had 14 kills, 15 digs, and a pair of aces, while Alleigh
Vandemerky recorded 35 assists and two blocks, and Erika Trudon
added four aces and 29 digs for the Gulls.
Drews and Giddens each had 10 kills, while Metry recorded 13
digs, and junior MH Katie Stueber (Darien, Conn.) had three blocks
in the Williams match. Tori Jasuta paced the Ephs with 18
kills and 19 digs. Set scores were 25-23, 25-21, 25-16.
