Box Score 2 Waltham, Mass. - The Trinity College Bantams collected a pair of five-set victories this afternoon to finish 3-0 in the Brandeis University Volleyball Invitational this weekend. The Bantams came back from a 2-0 deficit to win the next three sets and defeat the Emerson College Lions, 3-2, in their first match today, and took the deciding, fifth set, 15-8, after losing the third and fourth sets in a 3-2 triumph over the Emmanuel College Saints. With a 3-1 win against Coast Guard last night, Trinity goes 3-0 to start the fall.
Trinity junior captain MH Kate Giddens (Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif.) recorded team-highs of 11 kills and 15 digs in the Emerson match, while classmate Gina Buzzelli (Cheshire, Conn.) totaled 52 assists this afternoon, and junior MH Katie Stueber (Darien, Conn.) added 12 blocks in the two matches. Giddens also led Trinity with 14 kills against Emmanuel, while junior tri-captain Hunter Drews (Clifton Park, N.Y.) contributed 11 kills against Emmanuel and served up 11 aces in the two matches. Giddens represented Trinity on the all-tournament squad.
"I am extremely proud of our effort this weekend," said Trinity Head Coach Jen Bowman. "We played three tough matches that could've gone either way. I was very pleased with how we kept fighting until the end."
