Trinity Men's Ice Hockey Doubles Up Colby

Waterville, Maine - Senior forward Liam McKillop (New York, N.Y.) scored with just 11 seconds left in the first period to put the visiting Trinity College Bantams ahead, 3-1, en route to a 6-3 victory over theolby College Mules in New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) men's ice hockey action this afternoon at Alfond Rink.  Trinity moved to 12-1-1 overall and 7-0-1 in conference play with its eighth consecutive victory. The Mules dropped to 5-8-2 overall and 2-6-2 in the league. 

Trinity struck first on the power play at 4:20 of the opening period when junior forward Sean Orlando (Ivyland, Pa.) scored his ninth of the season.  Siophomore forward Ryan Cole (Anchorage, Alaska) and senior captain defenseman Michael Flynn (Cheshire, Conn.) had assists on the play.  The Bantams went up 2-0 at 16:14 of the first period on Cole's seventh goal from junior forward Michael Hawkrigg (Toronto, Ontario)and a rare goalie assist from junior Nathaniel Heilbron (West Vancouver, British Columbia).  The Mules made it 2-1 with just 1:46 left in the opening period when Mario Benicky scored his fifth of the year from Colin Reilly and Chris Kennedy.  With the Mules hoping for a 2-1 deficit at the first intermission, McKillop scored his third of the year from senior forward Conor Coveney (Hingham, Mass.) and Flynn.  

The Bantams made it a 4-1 game after two periods when senior forward Jackson Brewer (Newton, Mass.) scored the lone goal of the frame at 2:01.  Colby made a game of it again when Kennedy scored his second goal in two games just 1:58 into the third period. 
The Bantams struck quickly after the Mule score at 3:10 on Hawkrigg's sixth of the season Brewer's 15th assists of the winter.  The Mules made it a two-goal game at 7:19 when Phil Klitirinos scored his second of the year, but Trinity answered again at 15:16 on Cole's second goal of the contest.  Heilbron stopped 27 shots for the Trinity victory. Emerson Verrier played the first two periods in goal for Colby and stopped 16 shots, while Jordan Nathan made 10 saves in the third period.
