Box Score Springfield, Mass. - Sophomore forward Sean Orlando (Ivyland, Pa.) had two goals and one assist to lead the visiting Trinity College Bantams to a 7-2 victory over the Western New England University Golden Bears in men's ice hockey action this evening at Smead Rink. Trinity, ranked No. 10 nationally, improve to 8-1-1 with their fourth consecutive victory, while the Golden Bears drop to 1-9-1 after a 1-1-1 start to the year. The Bantams return to conference play on Friday, January 9 with their first home game since November against Middlebury at 7 p.m.
Orlando scored twice in the first period, including the game-winner, to help stake the Bantams to a 4-0 cushion. Sophomore forward Will Sleeper (Wellesley, Mass.), who was making his season debut, tallied the first two goals of his two-game college career, including the second of two Bantam tallies a 15-second span with under a minute to play in the first stanza. Sophomore Dane Genord got the Golden Bears on the scoreboard to open the second period, but Sleeper answered with his second of the night for the only scoring of the middle period. In the third frame, senior Michael Darrar got WNE back to within 5-2 with a goal from the point on a feed Ryan Taylor at the 15:10 mark, but the Bantams, put the game out of reach with goals by Anthony Sabitsky and Samuel Kane over the final 3:15.
Trinity finished with a 62-24 edge shooting and went 2-for-5 on the power-play while WNE was scoreless in its two man-advantage opportunities. Golden Bear senior goalie Tim Carr made 55 saves, while rookie
