Box Score Boston, Mass. - The visiting Trinity College Bantams edged the Emerson College Lions, 3-2, in volleyball action this afternoon to improve to 7-8 for the year. Emerson drops to 9-8. trinity owned the first set, 25-13, but lost the second, 25-18. Trinity jumped out to a 15-6 lead, allowed the Lions get back in it and pulled away late to take the third set, 25-20. Emerson won the fourth set handily, 25-18, but Trinity rallied for 1 15-7 triumph in the clinching fifth set.
Trinity senior co-captain OH Kate Giddens (Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif.) had 17 kills, six service aces and 14 digs, while first-year Hannah Engstrom (Hopkinton, Mass..) added 11 kills and two aces. Sophomore L Grace Metry (Grosse Point Park, Mich.) lead in digs with 21, while junior S Randi Whitham (South Weymouth, Mass.) lead in assists with 26 for the Bantams.
Emerson put up a solid fight, keeping the match close with three players having double digit kills. Kelley Guerra lead with 11 kills, while Fara Cohen and Jules Augustine had 10 each. Cohen also had 12 digs. Moira Brennen and Elaine Nichols led the team in assists, with 18 and 16 respectively. Sam Harton and Jess Hamilton lead in digs with 15 and 13 apiece.
