Clinton, N.Y. - Junior Ethan Holdaway scored his third goal of the season to push the Trinity College men's hockey team past the Hamilton College Continentals in overtime on Saturday night to improve to 4-1 on the season. The loss drops the Continentals to 2-3 on the year.

Hamilton got on the board first thanks to a goal from junior Robbie Murden (Georgetown, Ontario) less than four minutes into the first period. The score stayed at 1-0 as both teams headed into the locker room for the first intermission. 

The second period went without incident until Murden found the back of the net for the second time of the night with 4:55 remaining in the period. Down 2-0, Trinity answered with a goal of their own less than three minutes later after senior forward Michael Hawkrigg (Toronto, Ontario) put the biscuit in the basket thanks to an assist from junior Sean Orlando (Ivyland, Pa.).

Trailing 2-1 with 18 minutes elapsed in the third period, the visiting Bantams desperately needed a goal. Holdaway kept the visitors in the game after sending a pass to junior forward Brandon Cole (Anchorage, Alaska) who put the puck past Hamilton goalie Evan Buithenuis (Burlington, Ontario) for his first goal of the season, and the equalizer for Trinity. The game remained 2-2 at the end of the third period, sending the game into overtime.

In overtime, Trinity took just 1:22 to end the game after Holdaway scored thanks to an assist from senior captain Ellie Vered (Ottowa, Ontario).

The Bantams outshot Hamilton 54-34 on the evening. Sophomore goalie Alex Morin (St. Hubert, Quebec) earned his second victory of the season for Trinity, turning away 32 Continental shots. Buithenuis finished with 51 saves, despite the losing effort.

Trinity returns to action on Friday, December 11, when they host Hobart at the Koeppel Center. Puck drop is set for 7:30 p.m.
