Hartford, Conn. – The Trinity College women's tennis team blanked visiting Connecticut College, 9-0, on Wednesday evening inside the Ferris Athletic Center Field House in New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) action. With the win in the home opener, the Bantams improve to 2-4 overall and 1-1 in league play, while the Camels moved to 7-7 on the year and 0-1 in conference tilts.
Trinity got off to a quick start sweeping double action to score the first three points of the match. The duo of junior co-captain Melita Ferjanic (Samobor, Croatia) and classmate Morgan Feldman (Upper Bookville, N.Y.) and the tandem of first-year Vajun Babunski (Belgrade, Serbia) and classmate Emily Curtis (Milton, Mass.) each won their matches, 8-1, at No. 1 and No.2, respectively. At the No. 3 position, first-year Ania Aliev (Needham, Mass.) and senior co-captain Carolyn Zimmer (Vero Beach, Fla.) cruised to an 8-2 triumph.
In singles play, the Bantams won all six matches in straight sets to earn their first NESCAC victory of the spring. Babunski coasted to a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 3, while Feldman and Aliev only dropped two games apiece en route to straight wins at No. 2 and No. 4, respectively.
Trinity returns to action on Saturday, April 4, with a neutral site clash versus Babson at the Nor'Easter Bowl hosted by Wellesley.
