Box Score Hartford, Conn. - The Trinity College volleyball team opened up the 2015 season with a 3-0 victory over Eastern Connecticut State in the opening round of the Trinity College Invitational Friday night in Oosting Gymnasium. The Bantams won their first match of the year via game scores of 25-13, 25-12, and 25-23. Trinity improves to 1-0 on the year while Eastern Connecticut State falls to 1-4.
The Bantams were led by freshman Rachel Underwood (Danville, Calif.) who had five kills to go along with four aces, and senior Hunter Drews (Clifton Park, N.Y.) who had six kills and four aces. Senior Gina Buzzelli (Chesire, Conn.) had a game high 25 assists while senior Kate Giddens (Rancho Palos Verde, Calif.) led Trinity defensively with 11 digs to go along with her team high 12 kills as well. Eastern Connecticut State was led by junior Adrianna Mihalek who had nine kills. The Warriors made things interesting in the third game, forcing the Bantams to take a timeout after taking a 22-21 lead, however Trinity was able to come back and win the set, earning a victory over Eastern Connecticut state for 11th game in a row.

In the other tournament game on Friday night, Clark University swept Westfield State 25-17, 25-19, and 25-16, led by Marina Ramos and Shannon Glass-Smythe who combined for 24 kills, and Rachel Webb who tallied 29 assists.
Trinity will face Clark on Saturday at noon, followed by Westfield State at 2:00 PM.
