Hartford, Conn. - The Trinity College Field Hockey team got off to good start on Saturday morning and pulled away in the second half to beat Hamilton, 5-1 for their first win of the season. The win moves the Bantams to 1-2 while Hamilton falls to 3-1 on the year.

The Bantams were the aggressor of the two teams offensively, putting 14 shots on goal compared to just 6 for the Continentals. Senior goalie and tri-captain, Sophie Fitzpatrick (Duxbury, Mass.) had a great performance, turning away five shots from Hamilton while allowing only one goal. Hamilton goalkeeper Julia Booth (Greenwich, Conn.) recorded nine saves on the day, but allowed five Bantam goals.

Trinity was led by junior Clare Lyne (Concord, Mass.) who scored two goals in the first half to put Trinity ahead 2-0 heading into halftime. Hamilton cut the lead to one early in the second half on a goal by junior forward Eva Rosencrans (Greenwich, Conn.), however Trinity turned around and answered via a goal by sophomore Kelcie Finn (Weymouth, Mass.), assisted by Brenna Hobin (Madison, Conn.).

The Bantams defense held strong for the remainder of the game, allowing just two shots from the Continentals the entire second half. Senior tri-captain Olivia Tapsall (Greenwich, Conn.) added her first goal of the year at the 60:38 mark in the game to make the score 4-1 before another Trinity goal from Finn would give the Bantams a 5-1 lead, and put the game out of reach for Hamilton.

Trinity is back in action on Sunday, Sept. 20th, as they take on New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) foe Tufts, and look to improve to 2-1 in conference play. Game time is set for 12:00 p.m.
