Box Score Williamstown, Mass. - The visiting Trinity College Bantams suffered a 3-2 loss against the Williams College Ephs in New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) men's ice hockey action this evening. No. 7-ranked Trinity falls to 7-3-1 overall and 3-2 in the NESCAC with its first loss in five games, while the No. 13-ranked Ephs improve to 7-3-1 overall and 5-1-1 in the league.
Trinity led the first period with a power play goal at 8:42 when freshman Mark Knowlton (Colorado Sprimgs, Colo.) tipped in a wide shot from junior T.J. Sherman from the point for the first goal of his collegiate career. Bantam sophomore Bradley Buvinow (Turnersville, N.J.) gave the visitors a 2-0 lead, poking in a rebound after senior captain Elie Vered (Ottawa, Ontario) and sophomore Griffyn Martin (Southport, Conn.) sent the puck towards Eph goalie Michael Pinios. The Ephs cut deficit in half at 11:16 when junior Alex Hagerty accepted a breakaway pass out of the defensive zone from sophomore Dan Doherty and scored his first goal of the season.
Williams scored its second goal 23 seconds into a Bantam penalty at 13:06. Junior Sam Gray one-timed a pass from senior Zander Masucci. The puck was tossed around before finally being stuffed in by sophomore C.J. Shugart. The Williams goal streak continued when senior Zander Masucci scored from the blue line ten seconds into another Trinity penalty. The third period was played evenly with both teams getting prime opportunities to score but no goals resulted. Tensions ran high when both teams sent men to the penalty box with less than two minutes to play.
