Trinity Volleyball Drops Pair on Final Day of Hall of Fame Invitational

Amherst, Mass. - The Trinity College volleyball team dropped a pair of games on Saturday, both via 3-0 scores, on the second day of the Hall of Fame Volleyball invitational hosted by Smith College and Amherst College. The Bantams, who played both games today at LeFrak Gymnasium on Amherst's campus, fall to 6-13 overall ahead of their next match on Friday at home against New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) opponent Colby College.

The Bantams lost to the Brandeis Judges in the first game of the day, 25-23, 25-22 and 25-23, in a hard fought match. Trinity was led by rookie Ana DiPrizito (Ridgewood, N.J.) who led all players and set a new career-high with 10 kills for a .318 hitting percentage. DiPrizito was named to the all-tournament team thanks to her strong performances today. Junior co-captain Rachel Underwood (Danville, Calif.) added eight kills and 12 digs while first-year Ali Odermann (Lenexa, Kan.) led the squad with 18 digs at the libero position. Rookie Jess Yang (Pacific Palisades, Calif.) tallied a game-high 22 assists to go along with 13 digs. Brandeis was paced by Marissa Borgert (Blaine, Minn.) who had eight kills to go along with 12 assists while Marlee Nork (Chicago, Ill.) led the Judges with both 19 assists and four aces. Borgert was named to the all-tournament team after finishing the tournament with 33 total kills. 

Trinity dropped its second game of the day to Wellesley College by set scores of 25-22, 25-13 and 25-14. Against the Blue, junior Hanna Engstrom (Hopkinton, Mass.) led the Bantams with five kills while senior co-captain Claudia Varner (Port Washington, N.Y.) finished with a team-high .273 hitting percentage. Odermann led the team once again with 16 digs as did Yang with 16 assists. Underwood and sophomore Wyllie Boughton (Andover, Mass.) both served up a pair of aces as well. For Wellesley, Lauren Gedney (Huntersville, N.C.) finished with 10 kills while junior Ashley Peng (San Diego, Calif.) finished with four service aces.
