Box Score Harford, Conn. – Junior OH Isabelle Sessions (Chicago, Ill.) had 17 kills to lead the visiting Middlebury College Panthers to a 3-1 victory over the Trinity College Bantams in New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) volleyball action this afternoon at Oosting Gymnasium. Trinity falls to 3-3 with the loss in its NESCAC opener, while Middlebury improves to 4-2 overall and 2-0 in the league. Middlebury edged Trinity in the opening set, 25-23, but the Bantams came back to take the second, 25-19. The Panthers rallied and won sets two and three, 25-19, and, 25-18, respectively. Trinity hosts NESCAC rival Amherst in its next match on Friday at 7 p.m.
Trinity junior co-captain OH Rachel Underwood (Danville, Calif.) and sophomore OH Colette Scheffers (Flossmoor, Ill.) had 13 kills apiece, while junior RS Hannah Engstrom (Hopkinton, Mass.) recorded 11 kills, 11 digs, and two blocks. Bantam first-year S Rebecca Chu (Old Tappan, N.J.) added 42 assists and 24 digs, while rookie L Ali Odermann (Lenexa, Kansas) registered 15 digs and senior co-captain MH Claudia Varner (Port Washington, N.Y.) contributed four blocks. Sophomore S Chellsa Ferdinand (Queens, N.Y.) contributed 39 assists, three aces, and two blocks for the Panthers.
