Box Score Lewiston, Maine - The Trinity College volleyball team dropped its regular season finale, 3-0, to New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) foe, Bates College, on Satruday afternoon in Lewiston, Maine. Despite the loss, the Bantams qualified for the NESCAC Championship Tournament as the No. 8 seed, finishing the regular season with a 13-10 overall record and 2-8 mark in league play. Bates improves to 14-9 on the year and 4-6 in NESCAC action.
Bates won by set scores of 25-10, 25-16 and 25-14. Senior co-captain Rachel Underwood (Danville, Calif.) led the Bantams with eight kills while rookie Ally COnde (Danielson, Conn.) recorded three blocks. First-year Locke Luhnow (Encino, Calif.) paced Trinity with 12 assists and sophomore Ali Odermann (Lenexa, Kan.) posted a team-high 11 digs.
Bates was led by Delaney Mayfield, Claire Naughton and Taylor Stafford-Smith who each had seven kills. Julia Panepinto tallied a game-high 27 assists while Gabi Eustache finished with 17 digs.
Trinity and Connecticut College both finished with identical 2-8 records in the conference at the end of the regular season. In head-to-head competition, Trinity defeated Connecticut College to earn the No. 8 seed in the tournament. The Bantams will head to Bowdoin next Friday for the NESCAC Quarterfinals, set to begin at 5 p.m. Trinity qualifies for the post-season for the first time since the fall of 2014.
