Box Score Hartford, Conn. – Freshman forward Katie Hargrave (Westford, Mass.) scored twice to lead the visiting Middlebury College Panther to a 4-0 victory over the Trinity College Bantams in New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) women's ice hockey action this afternoon at Kellner Center. Trinity falls to 0-2 overall and in the NESCAC, while the No. 5-ranked Panthers are 2-0 overall and in the league. Middlebury won yesterday's season opener between the teams, 4-1.
Middlebury outshot the Bantams, 13-6, in the first period and senior Jenna Marotta (Katy, Texas) scored 40 seconds into a power play from sophomore Alexis Ryan (Mesa, Ariz.) and Madie Leidt (Killingworth, Conn.) on a wrist shot from just outside the left face-off circle. The Panthers scored three times in the second period, including Hargraves' pair. Freshman forward Jenna Letterie (Winthrop, Mass.) finished with a goal and assist and Leidt had two helpers for the Panthers.
Trinity junior Kai-Lilly Karpman (Playa Del Rey, Calif.) finished with 32 saves, and sophomore Anna Goldstein (Edina, Minn.) stopped all 24 Bantam shots to collect a shutout for Middlebury. Both teams had five power plays, but Middlebury converted twice and the Bantams came up empty. Sophomore forward Karinna Cave-Hawkins (Annapolis, Minn.) put a team-high four shots on goal for Trinity.
