Trinity Men's Ice Hockey Loses Close Game At Manhattanville

Box Score

Rye, N.Y. - Senior forward Matt Lippa (Richmond Hill, Ontario) had a goal and two assists to lead the Manhattanville College Valiants to a 3-2 victory over the visiting Trinity College Bantams in men's ice hockey this afternoon at Rye Playland Ice Casino.  Trinity, ranked No. 7 in the nation, falls to 4-2-2 and extends its winless streak to three games (0-2-1).  Manhattanville improves to 7-2-2 with its third win in a row.  The Bantams have a 20-day break before returning to action at Wisc.-Superior in the Superior Showdown on December 29 at 7 p.m.

Trinity led, 1-0, after one period thanks to an unassisted goal by junior forward Barclay Gammill (New Canaan, Conn.), but the Bantams accumulated 23 penalty minutes in the second frame and found themselves behind, 2-1, after 40 minutes.  Lippa tied the game at 1-1 less than two minutes into the middle period and the Valiants went ahead for good when Lippa and senior Eric Berglund (Sollentuna, Sweden) assisted sophomore forward Braeden Cross (Sechelt, British Columbia) for a power-play goal with 6:38 remaining before the final break.

After senior forward Cory Anderson (Bakersfield, Calif.) tallied a third-straight Manhattanville goal early in the third period, Trinity pulled itself to within one score on a goal by rookie forward Cole Poliziani (Burlington, Ontario) with 11:24 on the clock.  Bantam junior defenseman Liam Feeney (Foxboro, Mass.) and sophomore forward Dylan Healey (Goshen, N.Y.) assisted on the play.  The Trinity offense got increased pressure in the closing minutes, but Valiant senior goalie Tyler Feaver (Whitby, Ontario) made four late saves including two against Bantam sophomore defenseman James Callahan (Gladstone, N.J.).  Feaver finished with 22 saves, while Trinity junior backstop Tedy Loughborough (Wellesley, Mass.) had 22 stops.
