Waterville, Maine - The visiting Trinity College Bantams swept the doubles round to take a 3-0 lead and held on for a 5-4 victory over the Colby College Mules in New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) women's tennis action this afternoon. Trinity improves to 4-4 overall and 1-2 in the NESCAC, while the Mules fall to 7-3 overall and 1-2 in the conference. Trinity will visit NESCAC rival Bates tomorrow at 10 a.m.
Senior tri-captain Ania Aliev (Needham, Mass.) and first-year Lily Everett (Atlanta, Ga,) teamed up for an 8-2 win at third doubles, while senior tri-captain Vanja Babunski (Belgrade, Serbia) and sophomore Julia Brogan (Falmouth, Maine) won, 9-7, at first doubles and collected both Bantam singles points with straight-set victories at the No. 1 and No. 2 spots in the lineup, respectively. Trinity senior tri-captain Emily Curtis (Milton, Mass.) and sophomore Jillian Winer (Bolton, Mass.) recorded the remaining Bantam point with an 8-3 triumph at second doubles.
