Hartford, Conn. - The Trinity College Bantams lost, 8-1, this afternoon against the No. 3-ranked Amherst College Mammoths in New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) women's tennis action this afternoon at Assaiante Center.  Trinity drops to 1-5 overall and 0-3 in the NESCAC, while the Mammoths improve to 6-1.  The Bantams visit No. 8-ranked Williams tomorrow at 2 p.m.

Bantam juniors Julia Brogan (Falmouth, Maine) and Elena Pellegrini (Leghorn, Italy) earned the home team's point with an 8-5 win at first doubles over Amherst's Jackie Buzkin and Claire Evans, the No. 7-ranked doubles tandem in the nation.  Pellegrini also won her first set at No. 1 singles before losing the second, 6-3, and the tiebreaker, 10-3.  At second singles, Trinity rookie Marta Drausnik (Zagreb, Croatia) won her first set, 7-6, before dropping the second, 6-4, and the tiebreaker, 10-8.
