Hartford, Conn. - The Trinity College women's tennis team came away with a dominant, 9-0 victory over the Ithaca College Bombers on Saturday morning in Hartford in the team's season finale. The Bantams, who honored senior tri-captains Katie DiRico (Key Largo, Fla.) and Janie Weber (Winchester, Mass.) before today's match as part of Senior Day, finish the season with a 4-10 record.
Trinity swept doubles play to take an early, 3-0 lead. Weber and DiRico teamed up at the No. 3 doubles spot to win, 8-1, while junior tandem Julia Brogan (Falmouth, Maine) and Elena Pellegrini (Leghorn, Italy) won by the same score in the top doubles match. Junior Jillian Winer (Bolton, Mass.) dominated at the No. 4 spot in singles play, defeating her opponent, 6-0, 6-1, the same score which rookie Ashley Walker (New Canaan, Conn.) won by at No. 5 singles. First-year Marta Drausnik (Zagreb, Croatia) grinded out a hard-fought victory at No. 2 singles, winning the first set, 7-6 (6) before cruising in the second set, 6-1.
