Trinity Men's Ice Hockey Scores Six Goals in Triumph at Tufts

MEDFORD, Mass – Sophomore Casey Rhodes registered two goals and an assist to lead the visiting Trinity College men's ice hockey team to a 6-4 victory over Tufts University on Saturday afternoon. The Bantams (2-0) open the 2021 season with back-to-back New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) wins while Tufts falls to 0-1-1. Rhodes and company will resume action exactly one week from today, Saturday Nov. 27 against Salve Regina. Tufts faces Babson on Tuesday on the road.

The Bantams netted three goals in the first 12 minutes of action. Sophomore Jax Murray struck first on the power-play, assisted by John Campomenosi. Less than a minute after the Jumbos returned to full-strength, Rhodes tallied his first score of the evening via Connor Sudquist and Nicholas Siffringer to give the Bantams a 2-0 lead before setting up Eamon Doherty for Trinity's third goal at the 11:40 mark.

Trailing 5-3 heading into the final frame, Tufts Sami Hakkareinen made it a one score game on an assist from Brennan Horn with just under 15 minutes remaining. Trinity's Lucas Michaud all but wrapped things up when he scored the Bantams sixth tally of the night with just under four minutes until the final horn. Rhodes led with two goals while Murray, Michaud, Doherty and Kyle Tomaso all scored in the contest. Sudquist led the Blue and Gold with two assists.
