HARTFORD, Conn. - Sophomore forward
Jenny Guider (Ridgefield, Conn.) had two goals and one assist to lead the Trinity College Bantams to an 8-0 victory over the visiting Salem State University Vikings in women's ice hockey action this evening at Williams Rink in the Koeppel Community Sports Center. Trinity remains undefeated at 3-0-1 with its second win in as many days, while the Vikings fall to 1-7. The Bantams open New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) play at Connecticut College on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
Trinity outshot Salem State, 21-1, in the opening period but held just a 1-0 lead thanks to 20 saves by Viking goalie Hannah Aveni. Bantam rookie
Betsy Winslow (Fairfield Conn.) scored the first goal of the game, unassisted, 8:23 into the first stanza. Trinity scored three times in the middle frame and four times in the third period. Senior captain
Angelica Mushenko (East Longmeadow, Mass.) and junior
Stephanie Nevers (West Suffield, Conn.) scored twice for the Bantams, while rookie
Paige Kehoe (Manasquan, N.J.) had two assists. Junior goaltender
Stephanie Garvis (Plymouth, Minn.) made eight stops and Aveni finished with a whopping 55 saves for the Vikings.
