Box Score New London, Conn. – The Trinity College women's lacrosse program saw 12 different scorers in its first road contest of the season, downing Connecticut College 19-2 Saturday afternoon. Junior
Ellie Kirkpatrick (Bryn Mawr, Pa.), paced the Bantams (2-0) offensively, netting her first hat trick of the season — scoring all three goals in the first half — in the win.
With NESCAC play beginning next week, the contest between the two league foes will be recorded as a non-league game.
The Bantam defense was stout, causing 19 turnovers and allowing just 14 shots Saturday. First-year goaltender
Alyssa Vitale (Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.) took the start between the pipes, and combined with junior
Gabriella Young (Raleigh, N.C.) for 14 saves on the day.
First-year
Natalie Miller (Northport, N.Y.) tallied her first collegiate goals Saturday afternoon, and was one of four Bantams to score two goals, as juniors
Grace Coe (Chatham, N.J.),
Samantha Booma (Marblehead, Mass.), and sophomore
Lily Ives (Chappaqua, N.Y.) all registered a multi-goal performance. Senior Marcella Filbotte (Cohasett, Mass) also led the team with four draw controls of the 14 total won by Trinity.
After trailing 1-0 on a free position goal from Camel forward Emily Yorns, the Bantams piled on 16 unanswered goals to follow. Trinity scored eight goals in a seven-minute span in the first half, and would take a 12-1 lead into halftime. The Bantams rattled off four more goals before Yorns earned the final Conn. College goal of the game; the Trinity defense would then lock down the Camel offense, allowing just five shots in the final 12 minutes of play.
Trinity returns to action next Saturday, beginning NESCAC play at home against Wesleyan. Game time for April 3's conference opener is slated for 11 a.m.
