Box Score Hartford, Conn. - The Trinity College Women's Tennis team lost its first match of the season Sunday, falling 8-1 to Bates in its final contest of the weekend. The Bantams fall to 2-1 on the season after earning its first NESCAC victory against Connecticut College Saturday. The program is back in action on Sunday, April 25th, visiting Colby College.
Singles play began the afternoon. Trinity lost two early matches at first and third singles for an early 2-0 Bates lead. Junior Ashley Walker (New Canaan, C.T.) battled hard in the second set, but she would also fall by a score of 2-6, 4-6. Senior co-captain Lily Everett (Nassau, Bahams) played a tight match at fourth singles that ultimately went Bates' way, 5-7, 4-6. Freshman Josephine Kimball (New York, N.Y.) and senior co-captain Morgan Wilkins (Huntington Bay, N.Y.) both split sets. They lost in a third set tiebreaker played in lieu of a deciding third set at second and sixth singles, respectively.
Hartman and Kimball won the only match of the day for the Bantams at first doubles by a score of 8-6.
