India Shay (Southborough, Mass.) scored three times to lead the Trinity College Bantams to a 7-0 victory over the visiting Springfield College Pride in field hockey action this evening on Sheppard Field. Trinity, ranked No. 13 in the nation, improves to 5-0 entering a game at No. 7-ranked Williams on Saturday at noon. Springfield is now 2-4 and visits MIT on Saturday at 1 p.m.
Trinity put the game away early, beginning with the first goal by sophomore forward
Jackie Frank (Longmeadow, Mass.) who scored on a rebound of a saved shot by senior captain forward
Caelin Flaherty (Upton, Mass.) 32 seconds into the contest. Frank fed Flaherty on the second goal 4:49 into the opening quarter and Flaherty assisted Shay for the third marker at the quarter's midpoint. Shay scored again with 4:56 on the clock and Trinity led, 4-0, at the first break.
After a scoreless second frame, Shay, Flaherty, and Frank each scored again to make it a 7-0 final. Sophomore
Olivia McMichael (Glenside, Pa.) earned his first career win with five saves in 30 minutes before yielding to junior backstop
Emma Cropper (Norwalk, Conn.) who did not ned to make a save in the second half. Trinity outshot the Pride, 30-9, as Lyndsey DeLasho made 14 saves for Springfield.
