Hartford, Conn. – The Trinity College volleyball team was downed by the United States Coast Guard Academy, 3-1 on Thursday night. The Bantams are now 3-6 while Coast Guard improves to 8-4 after winning its second straight match. Trinity will hit the road tomorrow for a 6 p.m. start at Smith College with the Bears resuming action Saturday at Wheaton.
Trinity jumped out to a 1-0 lead after taking the first set 27-25 but the Bears answered by winning three-straight 26-24, 25-22 and 25-18. Coast Guard was led by juniors Sophia Galdamez and Bella Fleeger who combined for 21 kills and 14 digs with Fleeger also chipping in five blocks.
First-year Bantam
Grace Sullivan had herself a career night, registering 14 assists and four aces. Freshman
Eva Lekovic led Trinity with eight kills.
