Trinity Wrestling Wins Two And Loses Two At New England Duals

Lyskawa Earns NEWA Duals All-Tournament Honors

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Junior Kevin Lyskawa (Londonderry, N.H.) went 4-0 with three pins at 165 pounds to lead the Trinity College Bantams to a 2-2 record and 10th place in the Headlock for Hunfer New England Wrestling Association (NEWA) Duals Championships this afternoon.  Trinity downed New England College, 36-17, and WPI, 44-9, but lost, 33-23, to Western New England in the first round and, 38-7, to Roger Williams in the ninth-place match. Trinity is now 4-5 heading into a quad match at Alvernia on Saturday, January 29.  Lyskawa was named to the All-Tournament team.

Against Western New England, Lyskawa, sophomore Adam Frost (Bennington, Vt.) and first-year Chris Perry (Mohegan Lake, N.Y.) won by fall and sophomore Donald Ryan (Middleborough, Mass.) won by technical fall but the Golden Bears pinned five Bantams for five of their six wins.  It was pins galore for the Bantams against the New England College Pilgrims with all six Bantam victories coming by fall.  Trinity first-years Aidan Hebert (Bethany, Conn.) and Booker Lester Jr. (Sturbridge, Mass.) pinned their opponents in less than a minute.

Trinity dominated WPI to advance to the ninth-place match, winning eight of 10 bouts and pinning six Engineers.  Hebert pinned his opponent in less than a minute for the second match in a row.  Perry and Lyskawa won for Trinity against the Roger Williams Hawks.  Perry earned a 6-0 decision to finish 3-1 for the day and 3-0 at 141 pounds, and Lyskawa won, 13-4 for his fourth victory of the tournament. Lester finished 2-0 for the day at 197 pounds, while junior 184-pounder Anders Klass (Braintree, Mass.), Frost at 174 pounds and Hebert at 141 and 149 were each 2-1.
