HARTFORD, Conn. - Sophomore forward Katie Sullivan scored twice to lead the Johns Hopkins University Bluejays to a 4-0 victory over the Trinity College Bantams in the second round of the NCAA Division III Women's Soccer Championship Tournament this afternoon. Trinity, ranked No. 19 nationally, closes out the 2022 campaign with a 7-5-7 record, while the No. 2-ranked Bluejays stay unbeaten at 18-0-2. Johns Hopkins will face Williams College in the next round. Junior goalkeeper Mariana Cournoyer (St. Paul, Minn.) finished with 10 saves for the Bantams.
Johns Hopkins struck quickly, scoring in the fifth minute when Rachel Jackson knocked in a short cross from the right side by Breukelen Woodard that caromed off a Trinity defender. Trinity threatened in the 14th minute, as junior midfielder Sadie Rudolph (Weston, Conn.) sent a shot from 30 yards out on the left that Bluejay keeper Emma Huntzinger (East Windsor, N.J.) had to leap to poke over the cross bar. Three consecutive Bantam corner kicks followed but only the last resulted in a shot when junior back Laurel Iorio (Signal Moutain, Tenn.) sent a rolling ball wide left of the goal.

Hannah Storozuk (Tolland, Conn.) on a cross from the left side in the 27th minute, while the Bluejays had a goal nullified by an offsides call moments later. Cournoyer kept Johns Hopkins at bay with three saves in the final 30 minutes of the first half. but Woodard nearly put Johns Hopkins ahead by two when her shot from the right flank hit the cross bar in the 42nd minute.
Less than a minute into the second stanza, Sullivan scored on a penalty kick that Cournoyer got her hands on but could not corral. The Bluejay defense was stout in the second half, holding Trinity to just a single shot-on-goal by sophomore midfielder Anna Franceschi (Milwaukee, Wisc.). Cournoyer did her best with six saves, but Johns Hopkins scored twice more, once on a rebound by Sullivan and the last time on a shot by Maria Romo-Nichols from Megha Salvi. Huntzinger finished with three saves for the Bluejays.
