AMHERST, Mass. – The visiting Trinity College women's ice hockey team fell to Amherst College, 2-1 on Wednesday night at Orr Rink in Massachusetts. The Bantams shift to 7-10-1 after the loss with a 3-8 mark in New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) games while Amherst improves to 10-8-1 with a 7-6-1 mark in NESCAC play. Next up for Trinity is a 7 p.m. home contest against Wesleyan University this Friday before playing its final regular season game in Middletown, Conn. against the Cardinals the following day at 3 p.m.
Sophomore
Jenny Guider (Ridgefield, Conn.) netted the game's first goal of the night at the 19:13 mark with the help of senior forwards
Bailey McKeon (Frisco, Texas) and
Bergen Kobienia (Edina, Minn.) who each were credited with assist on the play. The second period was scoreless despite five total power play between the two teams.
In the third, Amherst finally broke though on a power play to tie the game at one-all, thanks to Angelina Wiater who was assisted by Avery Flynn and Rylee Glennon at the 13:21 mark. Just three minutes later, the Mammoths took the 2-1 lead with Syndey Raaths dishing to Stephanie Nomicos who cashed in on the game winner. The Bantams were outshot 35-19 with sophomore goaltender
Hannah Leclair (Kensington, Prince Edward Island) recording 33 saves in net for the Blue and Gold while Caitlin Walker collected 18 of her own for the home squad.
