Trinity Baseball Splits With Montclair State To Open 2022

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 HARTFORD, Conn. - Senior right-hander Jimmy Fahey (Danbury, Conn.) allowed six hits and one run with six strikeouts over six innings to lead the Trinity College Bantams to a season-opening, 3-1 victory over the visiting Montclair State University Red Hawks in baseball action this afternoon on Murren Family Field at DiBenedetto Stadium.  The Bantams dropped the second game, 8-6, and are now 1-1 with a home game against Mount St. Vincent tomorrow at 5 p.m.  Today's twinbill marked the beginning of five games in four says for the Bantams to start the year.  Montclair State moves to 10-4.

Trinity sophomore SS Jack Mathews (Westport, Conn.) had two hits, a double, and an RBI while senior Mike Guanci (Wakefield, Mass.) blasted a solo homer.  Senior closer Justin Olson (Avon, Conn.) worked the ninth for his first save.  In the second game, Trinity nearly came back from a 6-0 deficit with six runs in the final four innings.  James Stefanowicz (Stamford, Conn.) had a double, a triple, and two RBIs, and Matthews added two more hits in the nightcap for the Bantams.  Sophomore RHP Sam Craven (Wakefield, R.I.) took the loss
