Trinity Baseball Loses At Wesleyan

MIDDLETOWN, Conn. - The visiting Trinity College Bantams dropped a 14-4 decision against the Wesleyan University Cardinals in New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) inter-division baseball action this afternoon.  Trinity drops to 10-9 with a home game against Nichols tomorrow at 3:30 p.m.  Wesleyan visits Hamilton for three NESCAC West games this weekend.  Junior 2B Patrick Dillon (Bronx, N.Y.) was 3-for-4 with a double for the Trinity offense.

Trinity struck first when sophomore Bennett Teceno (Centerville, Mass.) led off the game with a single and scored on a wild pitch in the top of the first inning. Wesleyan tied the game in the bottom of the second on a Bantam error in the outfield, and scored twice more in the fourth including another unearned run to lead, 3-1. The Bantams got one back on a leadoff, solo homer by junior OF Brandon Chow (Greenwich, Conn.) in the fourth frame, but the Cardinals erupted for seven runs in the fifth to break the game open.

Junior C Justin Miller (Marblehead, Mass.) accounted for one of two Trinity runs in the sixth inning with an RBI single, while Bantams relievers Jake Mello (Kennebunk, Maine) and Jonathan Link (Holmes, N.Y.) pitched five scoreless outs apiece late in the game.  Wesleyan managed to score four more times in the eighth inning while holding the visitors without a run over the final third of the game.  Trinity senior RHP Cameron Crowley (Downers Grove, Ill.) started and took the loss, while Eddie Zanot earned the win in relief for the Cardinals.
