Trinity Baseball Steals First of Three-Game Series at No. 23 Tufts

MEDFORD, Mass. – Junior Brandon Chow (Greenwich, Conn.) went 3-for-3 and senior Jimmy Fahey (Danbury, Conn.) pitched a complete game to lead the Trinity College baseball team to a 2-1 win over No. 23 ranked Tufts University on Friday afternoon in New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) competition.  The Bantams improve to 13-12 on the year with a 5-2 mark in the conference and resume action tomorrow against the Jumbos (19-7, 4-5 NESCAC) with a double-header starting at noon.

Trinity scored both runs in the top of the third as sophomore James Stefanowicz (Stamford, Conn.) doubled to center field to lead things off for the Blue and Gold. Two batters later, Chow pushed Stefanowicz to third with an infield single and later advanced to second while Stefanowicz took home on a passed ball for the first run of the day. Moments later, first-year Tanner Fairchild (Sarasota, Fla.) then gave the visitors a two-run lead with an RBI single to left field to score Chow from third.

The Jumbos added its lone run of the day in the fifth when Jackson Duffy singled to left field to score Kyle Cortese. Fahey earned his second win of the season on the mound, pitching his first complete game of his career and striking out four batters on the afternoon.
