HARTFORD, Conn. – The Trinity College men's track and field team finished second out of eight teams at the Trinity Invitational on Saturday and saw eight different Bantams win their respective events on the day. Trinity, which returns to competition Saturday at the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) Championships next Saturday at 9 a.m hosted by Hamilton College., finished with 131 points while Springfield College scored 196 as a team to earn the meet victory on the day.
Sophomore
Justin O'Neil-Riley and senior captain
Kinnard Hughes each took home jumping event crowns, as O'Neil Riley won the long jump with a mark of 6.80 meters and Hughes recorded a triple jump mark of 14.58 meters. Meanwhile on the track, senior
Robert Allen won the 100 Meter Dash finals with a 10.87 second time and junior
Kai Bailin won the 400 Meter Hurdles (54.55 seconds).
In the distance runs, sophomore
Toby L'Esperance won the 800 Meter (1:56.19), senior
Tim Lautenbach won the 1500 (3:54.55) and sophomore
James Carroll finished first in the 3000 Meter with a time of 9:59.54. Additionally, the Bantams 4x100 relay team consisting of senior
Darren Warren, Allen, Bailin, and senior
DeVante Reid finished second with a time of 42.59 seconds and first-year
Nolan McKenna placed third in the 400 Meter Dash (49.96). Sophomore
Ethan Wilkie won the shot put (15.80m) and placed second in the discus throw with a 42.55 meter toss while first-year
Andrew Moran finished fifth overall in the javelin with a mark of 47.74 meters.
