Men's Swimming & Diving Opens Season at Hamilton Tri-Meet

CLINTON, N.Y. – The Trinity College Men's Swimming & Diving Team opened the 2023-24 season with a tri-meet against Hamilton College and Colby College at Bristol Pool Sunday afternoon.

Junior Matthew Brown posted a pair of second-place finishes in the 200-yard medley relay (1:38.91) and 400-yard IM with a time of 4:20.76. First-year Matthew Semelsberger grabbed fifth in the 1000-yard freestyle with a time of 10:52.32, while junior Tadija Ciric registered a fifth-place finish in the 500-yard freestyle at 5:15.38. Dillon McDermott finished fifth in the 50-yard butterfly with a time of 24.31.

In the 200-yard freestyle relay, the squad of first-year Benjamin Broxson, Ciric, senior Dillon McDermott and senior Colin Leonard recorded a fourth-place finish with a time of 1:29.29. In the 200-yard medley relay, the team of Brown, first-year Atticus Chang, McDermott and Leonard placed fifth at 1:38.91.

On the diving platform, junior Topher Fitzpatrick placed third in the 1-meter dive (153.85) and fourth in the 3-meter dive (138.60). Sophomore Owen Schmidt took third in the 3-meter dive (161.90) and fourth in the 1-meter dive with a score of 139.05.

The Bantams will be back in the water for the Connecticut Cup, hosted by Wesleyan University December 1-2. Events will kick off at 6:30 p.m. Friday night.
