MEDFORD, Mass. – The Trinity College Women's Volleyball team suffered a four-set loss to host Tufts University, 3-1 (25-23, 16-25, 20-25, 23-25), in the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) Women's Volleyball Championship Quarterfinals at Cousens Gymnasium Saturday afternoon. The Bantams move to 15-8 on the season, while Tufts improve to 14-8 overall.
Junior
Eva Lekovic (San Marino, Calif.) slammed a match-high 15 kills with five digs and two blocks for the Bantams. Sophomore
Ellie Gordon (Los Angeles, Calif.) notched 12 kills with two digs and two blocks, while senior
Lola Craig (Los Angeles, Calif.) notched a double-double with 11 kills and 12 digs. Sophomore
Caroline Howell (Houston, Texas) tallied 28 assists and nine digs, and junior
Grace Sullivan (Fort Worth, Texas) logged her first double-double with 18 assists and 11 digs. Junior
Bella Caffuzzi (Brooklyn, N.Y.) had seven kills and four blocks, while first-year
Scarlett Jago (Allentown, Pa.) grabbed a team-high 15 digs in the loss.
The Bantams started out hot, winning the first set, 25-23, behind a trio of kills from Craig and junior
Ava Boloyan (American Canyon, Calif.). Lekovic posted four kills and Gordon added three kills in a second set loss, 25-16. Trinity led 13-11 in the third set, but Tufts gained control with a 14-7 run to secure the 25-20 win. The final set featured 12 ties and four lead changes in the highly contested frame. Craig and Gordon both registered five kills in the last set, but it wasn't enough as Tufts edged the Bantams, 25-23, to win the match.
