ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The Trinity College Wrestling squad finished sixth out of a 14-team field at the 2023 Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) Invitational, hosted Saturday afternoon at Gordon Field House.
First year Alexander Schaeublin placed second in the 125-pound class, collecting victories over Conner Small (Thiel), Jacob Deysher (RIT) and Chris Hong of Wesleyan before falling to top-seeded Lee Rubin (RIT) in the Championship match.
Fourth-seeded junior Marco Bragado reached the Semifinals of the 184-pound bracket with wins over Connor Shaw (Utica), and #5 Colton Geitler (Pitt-Bradford), before falling to #1 Isaac Cory. In the consolation bracket, Bragado posted wins over #2 Jesse Kanatzar (John Carroll) and #7 Aris Dashiell (Wesleyan) to take third-place.
Senior Adam Frost went 5-2 during the Invitational, defeating Marcus Brown (Wesleyan), Ryan Gildersleeve (PSU-Behr) before falling to Sam Bishop (Case Western Reserve) in the Quarterfinals. In the consolation bracket, Frost picked up wins over Zach Borzio (Williams) and #4 Matthew Gunmere (Case Western Reserve) to advance to Finals match, where he fell to Bishop for the second time.
Fifth-seeded senior Timothy Glynn took fourth in the 285-class, advancing to the Quarterfinals falling to #4 Thomas Goodwin (Williams). In the consolation bracket, Glynn grabbed wins over teammate Lukas Cylwik, William Kerr (Case Western Reserve) and #2 Nicholai Brotzman (PCT), before falling to #7 Josh Lanka (RIT) in Consolation final.
Sophomore Matthew Carrozza advanced to the Quarterfinals in the 133-pound class with wins over Michael Manieri (Wesleyan) and Cole Neil (Penn State-Behr), while classmate Chase Ledbury advanced to the Quarterfinals of the 157-pound class with wins over Zach Zoladz (John Carroll) and Daniel Clark (PCT). Sophomore John Fiore III made the Quarterfinals of the 197-pound class with a win over Gage Tedesco of Utica.
