HARTFORD, Conn. - The Trinity College men's squash team, which has a 15-4 record after consecutive 9-0 wins against Hamilton, Amherst, and Williams in the 2023 New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) Championship Tournament on February 11 and 12, will compete for the College Squash Association (CSA) National Team Championship (Potter Trophy) title as the No. 6 seed this weekend at its own Kellner Squash Center from Friday, February 24 to Sunday, February 26. Trinity is serving as a co-host this weekend with Wesleyan University. The Bantams, which won their 17th national title in the last 23 seasons in 2018 and captured their 16th consecutive New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) Championship title earlier this month, will open Potter Trophy play against the No. 3-seeded Princeton University Tigers on Friday, February 24 at 3 p.m.
The Bantams, coached by
Paul Assaiante (29th season), will face the winner of Friday's match featuring No. 7-seeded Drexel and No. 2-seeded Pennsylvania in the CSA Semifinals on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. in Saturday's semifinals if they win against Princeton. The Potter Trophy Finals will take place on Sunday at 1:30 p.m. The Potter Trophy consists of the top eight teams in intercollegiate squash in a three-round, single-elimination tournament. The other CSA Quarterfinal matches are top-seeded Harvard against No. 8-seeded Cornell and No. 4-seeded Yale against No. 5-seeded Virginia. Trinity finished the regular season ranked as No. 6 in the nation and with a 2-4 record against the other teams in the field. Trinity lost road matches at Harvard (6-3), Princeton (7-2), Penn (7-2), and Yale (6-3) and did not play Virginia.
