MEDFORD, Mass. —
Isabella Hartman (New York, N.Y.) and
Josephine Kimball (New York, N.Y.) earned the first match point on the day with an 8-4 win at No. 1 doubles on the road at No. 8 Tufts University on Saturday. The Bantams moved to 6-7 overall and 1-6 in New England Small College Athletic Conference, while the Jumbos improved to 7-7 and 6-2. Trinity remains on the road at Bates College for a 10 a.m. match on Sunday.
The Navy & Gold battled tough in doubles with two tiebreaker sets at No. 2 and No. 3 partners.
Allie Francis (Westport, Conn.) and
Angelina Shyltsyna (Odessa, Ukraine) narrowly fell at No. 2 in 8-7 (2), while
Ella Baker (Gladstone, N.J.) and
Elise Brennan (Valatie, N.Y.) fell 8-7 (5) at No. 3. At No. 6 singles
Madison Bolig (Charleston, S.C.) bested Stephanie Woodbury in the first set 6-3, but dropped the second 6-0 to force a third, where Bolig fel 10-2. Trinity fell in close second set tiebreakers with Kimabll at No. 2 singles (6-1, 7-6 (5)) and
Ella Baker at No. 4 (6-1, 7-5 (3)).
