BRUNSWICK, Maine - Trinity junior pitchers
Alex Chang (Sands Point, N.Y.) and
Tyler Griffin (Milford, Conn.) allowed just two runs in a losing effort, as the visiting Trinity College Bantams lost to the Bowdoin College Polar Bears in the opening game of a New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) East Division three-game series this afternoon. Jason Bogdanos pitched a complete game for Bowdoin. Trinity falls to 12-6 overall and 2-2 in the NESCAC East and the Polar Bears improve to 10-5 overall and 2-1 in the division.
Trinity fell behind 2-0 after two innings thanks to run-scoring singles by Bowdoin's CJ Brito-Trinidad in the first and Lukas Tsai in the second. Trinity had its first hit of the game in the top of the third by junior
William Frain (South Hamilton, Mass.), but two groundouts and a strikeout left him stranded 90 feet from home.
The pitching continued to dominate for both teams until the seventh inning when Bantam senior co-captain
Patrick Dillon (Bronx, N.Y.) drew a one-out walk and advanced to second as
Dylan Schnitzer (Huntington, N.Y.) was hit by a pitch. Dillon scored off a muffed grounder to second by
Colin Mann (Dedham,Mass.). Bogdanos retired the side in order in the eighth and ninth to conclude the game. Chang took the loss, allowing six hits and striking out six in five innings. Griffin was stellar in the final three frames, yielding two hits and no runs with two K's and no walks.
