#12 Women's Lacrosse Shuts Down #19 Bowdoin, 22-8

BRUNSWICK, Maine — Brooke Kurtz (Alexandria, Va.) netted the first goal of the game for the No. 12 Trinity College women's lacrosse team and the Bantams never dropped the lead in a huge 22-8 triumph over No. 19 Bowdoin College on Saturday. Trinity improved to 8-2 on the season and 3-2 in the New England Small College Athletic Conference, while the Polar Bears fell to 4-6 and 2-4. The team returns home on Wednesday for more league action against Wesleyan University at 6 p.m.

Two minutes later Caroline Lampert (Wayland, Mass.) put the visitors up 2-0 before Sophia Sudano put Bowdoin in the board. In the second quarter, the Bantams netted 10 goals for an eight-point lead as Molly McGuckin (Darien, Conn.) ignited the huge onslaught of goals with back-to-back goals. Casey Ward (Norwell, Mass.) tallied a trio, while Grace Denious (Wilton, Conn.) connected for two in the strong second quarter for the Navy & Gold.

McGuckin accounted for six goals for the Bantams with Ward and Denious each connecting for three. Goalkeepers Alyssa Vitale (Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.) and Ali Macdougall (Southbury, Conn.) split time in the net for Trinity and totaled seven saves. Bowdoin committed 18 turnovers, while the Bantams only had nine.
