Trinity Women's Squash Comes Back to Defeat Stanford, 6-3

HARTFORD, Conn. – Trinity College Women's Squash team rallied in the final matches collecting four straight wins to lift them over visiting Stanford University, 6-3 on Saturday afternoon. The Bantams rise to 4-0 on the season, while Stanford drops to 2-3 overall.

Sophomore Kara Lincou kicked off the day with a 3-1 (11-5, 11-7, 8-11, 8-11, 11-6) victory over Yuvna Gupta, followed by back-to-back loses from Madeleine Hylland 0-3 (4-11, 9-11, 10-12) and Jana Safy 2-3 (7-11, 11-7, 11-8, 9-11, 3-11) to put the Stanford Cardinals up 2-1.  Junior Janna El Ashmawy blanked Leah Rosenblatt McGillicuddy, 3-0 (11-4, 11-7, 11-8) to tie up the score 2-2 with five more matches to go.

Stanford stepped back in the lead after a 1-3 (7-11, 11-7, 11-8, 9-11, 3-11) victory over Trinity's Lujan Palacios, Bantams down 3-1 with four matches remaining. Trinity found its second wind as senior Nouran Youssef, Fabiola Cabello and sophomore Hannah Chukwu blanked all three opponents to flip the script on Stanford. Junior Malak Moustafa secured the Bantams victory after a 3-2 (11-5, 11-7, 8-11, 8-11, 11-6) nail-biter against Stanfords Madison Ho. Trinity College would close out the day with a 6-3 victory over Stanford University. 

The Bantams will be back in action on January 19th at Dartmouth College at 3:00PM.
