HARTFORD, Conn. – The Trinity College Men's Swimming & Diving team swam against visiting Clark and University of Saint Joseph's in the Trinity Natatorium on Saturday afternoon. Bantams sailed past the Cougars with a score of 203-68 and with a final score of 211-24 over the Blue Jays.
Highlights:
- Trinity went 1,2,3 in the 200 medley relay with the winning relay of McDermott, Brown, Leonard and Cadogan taking first in a time of 1:39.57
- First-years Ben Lynch and Ethan Myts took first and second in the 1000-yard freestyle with Lynch recording a time of 11:14.90
- Trinity snagged gold and silver in the 200-yard freestyle with Colin Leonard (1:47.14) and Ernesto Solana (1:54.09) leading the pack.
- Matt Semelsberger won (28.13) and Jack Brown finished just two hundredths later (28.15) in the 50 backstroke.
- Graduate Quin Woods took first in the 50-breaststroke with a time of 28.28 and Spence Kwan took second.
- Trinity took first in the 100-yard butterfly with Matthew Brown finishing in a personal best time of 52.91.
- First-year Benjamin Broxson took first in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 23.00
- Junior Topher Fitzpatrick took first in 1M diving with a score of 184.40 Owen Schmidt took second with a score of 167.65.
- Dillon McDermott took first in the 100-yard freestyle in a time of 49.44 and Patty Cadogan touched second with a time of 50.66.
- Matthew Brown grabbed another gold in the 100-yard backstroke recording a time of 54.69.
- Trinity took first in the 100-yard breaststroke with Quin Woods leading the way in a 1:02.94
- The 500-yard freestyle was won by first-year, Ernesto Solana in a time of 5:13.30.
- Colin Leonard took first in the 50-yard butterfly beating the competition by over 2 seconds in a time of 24.91.
- Fitzpatrick and Owen Schmidt went 1,2 in 3M diving as well with respective scores of 189.90 and 187.15
- Matthew Brown took his third individual first place of the meet with a time of 55.31 and Dillon McDermott followed closely after for a second-place time of 55.74.
- Bantams placed first and second in the 400 freestyle relay. The winning relay of Woods, Semelsberger, Broxson and Leonard recorded a time of 3:27.22.
The Bantams will return to the water when they travel to Mount Holyoke for a road meet against Vassar College on January 15th at 2:00 p.m.
