HOLYOKE, Mass. – The Trinity College Women's Swimming and Diving squad sailed past Vassar and Mount Holyoke College in their tri-meet on Monday afternoon at the Mount Holyoke Natatorium. The Bantams cruised by the Brewers with a score of 168-125, and finished the day with a score of 230-68 over the MHC Lyons. Trinity rose their record 5-2 on the season, while Vassar dropped to a 5-3 record along with MHC now with a record of 2-3.
Bantams first years placed in both diving events, Esther Bradley finished second overall with a total of 220.85 in the 3M dive and 225.05 in the 1M dive for the Bantams. First year Kayla Tatarian finished third overall in the 1M dive with a tally of 197.70 and in the 3M dive with a 187.30 score.
The Bantams grabbed gold in the 200-yard medley relay team of Rachel Kim, Charlotte Murphree, Morgan Lenoce and Isabelle Tagliaferro with a time of 1:51.75. In the following events Sara Matson finished in third for the Bantams at 11:41.10 in the 1,000-yard freestyle, placing behind two Vassar swimmers.
First year Charlotte Murphree (1:09.57)and senior Marissa Lopez-Ona (1:10.24) placed first and second in the 100-yard breaststroke, Alexandra Snyder would take fourth with a time of 1:14.03.
In the 50-yard freestyle Trinity collected first and second as junior Isabelle Tagliaferro snatched first with a time of 25.48, twenty-four seconds ahead of teammate Rachel Lundy (25.72). The Duo finished back-to-back in the 100-yard freestyle finishing just over one second apart, Tagliaferro finished in 55.15 followed by Lundy in 56.18.
Murphree stole the show in the 200-yard breaststroke coming in at a time of 2:29.01, Lopez-Ona touched the wall just seconds later at 2:31.40 for second place.
Bantams 400-yard freestyle relay team closed out the meet with a gold and bronze place. Squad Lundy, Lenoce, Dustin and Tagliaferro capped off with a time of 3:42.09, and the team of Hannah Flis, Murphree, Kim and Addison Dunham finished at 3:50.48
The Bantams will be back in the water as they host Wesleyan on Wednesday, January 17th at 2:00PM.
