Box Score HARTFORD, Conn. – #13 Trinity College Women's Ice Hockey fell on the road against Connecticut College, 3-0, in their New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) on Balfour Rink Saturday afternoon. The Bantams drop to a 9-4-2, 2-4-2 record on the season, while the Camels rise to a 6-6-5, 2-6-2 record overall.
The Bantams fired off the first shots of the game, scattered across the ice from Anne Levia, Annika Dyczkowski and Hannah Feinberg. Trinity had two penalties within a minute apart at the 7 minute mark resulting in a 5-3 power-play for the Camels. Despite the adversity the Bantams protected the net and finished out the first period with a 0-0 score.
Trinity kicked off the second period with a 5-4 power-play where they ripped five shots with two on target from Martina Exnerova and Annabelle Merkel collected by Conn.'s Devon Galizio in the net. The Camels would put up the first goal of the night six minutes into the period from Claire Sammons. From the wing Bantams Jenny Guider attempted to even the score with a shot on net but was denied by Calizio. Conn. would lift their lead to 2-0 with another goal from Sammons to close out the second.
With a deficit of two the Bantams were hungry for a goal, they continued to pester the Connecticut goaltender, posting ten shots in the third. Trinity pulled their goalie as the Camels entered a two minute power-play, with the extra skater on the ice the Bantams attempted at a goal. Despite the final effort from the Trinity Women's Hockey team, Conn. College was able to solidify the win tapping in their third and final goal of the night on Bantams empty net.
Trinity outshot the Camels 23-18 on net, during the game. Annabelle Merkel with five shots and Anne Levia adding four led the Bantams in the NESCAC play. Hannha Leclair recorded fifteen saves in the night, while Devon Galizio collected twenty-three to secure the win for the Camels.
The Bantams will be back on the ice in Koeppel Center on Friday, January 26th for another NESCAC battle against the Colby College Mules at 7:30PM.
