Trinity Men's Swimming and Diving Fall to Lyons, 170-114

HARTFORD, Conn. – The Trinity College Men's Swimming and Diving team came up short to the Lyons with team totals of 170-114. The Bantams dropped to a 3-5 record on the season, while the Lyons level out to a 5-5 record.

From the Diving platforms, Bantams' Topher Fitzpatrick placed first in the 1M dive at 198.15, followed by sophomore Owen Schmidt with a score of 179.40. The teammates would flip places in the 3M dive as Schmidt (191.70) would take gold and Fitzpatrick (190.87) was rewarded with second. 

Trinity recorded three first place finishes against the Lyons with two from Matthew Brown in the 200-yard butterfly (1:56.08) and the 200-yard IM (1:58.50). The Bantams found success in the 100-yard butterfly with a first and second place finish from Dillon McDermott (53.71) followed by Atticus Chang (57.12).

Matthew Semelsburger cruised to a second place finish in the 1000-yard free with a time of 10:37.65. Bantams McDermott collected silver in the 50-yard free (21.55), along with Ernesto Solana who also finished second overall in the 500-yard free (5:15.70).

Ben Broxson, Chang, Collin Leonard, and McDermott finished the meet collecting silver in the 200-yard freestyle relay at 1:29.90 falling just seconds to the Lyons squad.

The Bantams will host Springfield College on Saturday, February 3rd at 1PM in the Trinity Natatorium.
