Women's Soccer Falls To Amherst In Season Finale, 5-0

HARTFORD, Conn. – The Trinity College Women's Soccer team lost to visiting Amherst College, 5-0, in their 2024 regular season finale at Trinity College Soccer Field Tuesday night. The Bantams wrap their campaign with a 3-9-3 record with a 1-6-3 mark in the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC), while the Mammoths rise to 5-1-4 in conference and 9-1-5 overall.

In the 10th minute of action, junior Ella Johnson found sophomore Precious Kum inside the Bantams box. Kum made a run to the goal line and chip a shot over the head of Trinity first-year goalkeeper Lily Bracken from an extreme angle into the far side of the net to hand the Mammoths a 1-0 lead.

With 3:02 remaining in the first half, Trinity was whistled for a foul inside their goal box, leading to an Amherst penalty kick. On the ensuing opportunity, junior Halle Hanna beat Bracken to her left side, pushing the Mammoths advantage to 2-0 heading into halftime.

In the 53rd minute of play, Amherst senior Fiona Bernet chipped a free kick into the Bantams box, which bounced off the crossbar and dropped back in front of the net, where first-year Caroline Coletti knocked in the loose ball to build a 3-0 lead. The Mammoths added a pair of goals in a four-minute span late in the second half from senior Abby Schwartz and Coletti to send Amherst to the 5-0 victory.

The Mammoths doubled the Bantams in the shot column, 18-9, and held the edge in corner kicks, 9-1. Bracken made two saves for Trinity, while sophomore Zoe Tamborello added a save in relief. Amherst senior Mika Fisher logged a match-high four saves.
