Bantams Hosted Thoroughbreds for Home Opener

| By:

HARTFORD, Conn. – The Trinity College Men's Swimming and Diving team hosted Skidmore University for their 2024-25 season home opener on Sunday, November 17, at the Trinity Natatorium.

The Bantams were led by Ryan Kam, who recorded lifetime bests in every event he swam. Kam finished in the top 3 in all of his individual events: 100-yard backstroke, 200-yard backstroke, and 200-yard IM. He also led the 200-yard medley relay team, which placed third.

Senior Matthew Brown posted strong performances in his individual events, taking second in the 1000-yard freestyle and won the 500-yard freestyle. Brown was also part of the second-place 200-yard medley relay and the winning 400-yard freestyle relay. His times currently rank him 6th in the NESCAC for the 1000 free and 3rd for the 500 free.

First-year Ilija Tosic had an impressive meet, winning the 50-yard freestyle, taking second in the 100-yard freestyle, and anchoring both the second-place 200-yard medley relay and the first-place 400-yard freestyle relay. His times in both the 50 and 100 free have placed him in the NESCAC top 10.

Senior Tadija Ciric earned first place in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 1:58.59 and second place in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 2:05.87.

Junior Owen Schmidt logged first place in the 3-meter dive, scoring 183.22 for the Bantams.

"I am so proud of how our men's team performed today," said Coach Hagy. "Looking at Skidmore's previous meets, we knew some of our guys would need to step up. We won a few unexpected races and out-touched Skidmore in some key events. Although we came up just short of the win, our team fought hard to the very end. This is a strong starting point for us, and we have plenty to build on as we prepare for next weekend's NESCAC competition."

The Bantams will next compete against Tufts and Williams at Worcester Polytechnic Institute on Saturday, November 23, at 1 p.m.
