Bantams Wrestling Finishes 10th at Doug Parker Invitational

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The Trinity College Men's Wrestling team competed at the Doug Parker Invitational, hosted by Springfield College, on Saturday morning. The Bantams finished 10th out of 15 teams in the highly competitive tournament.

In the 125-pound weight class, sophomore Alexander Schaeublin received a bye in the opening round and secured a 2-1 victory in the round of 16 to advance to the quarterfinals. Schaeublin was then defeated by decision in the quarterfinals by C. Hong of Wesleyan.

At 133 pounds, juniors Matty Carrozza and Ty Trickle both advanced to the quarterfinals in their respective brackets before being eliminated.

The Bantams had three wrestlers compete in the 141-pound championship bracket. Aiden Herbert and Daniel Echeverria each reached the round of 16 before falling to opponents from Centenary College and the University of Southern Maine. Cord Vallis was eliminated by fall in the round of 32.

In the 149-pound weight class, both Chris Perry and Nolan Sharp were eliminated in the round of 32.

At 157 pounds, Chase Ledbury was defeated by fall in the opening round, while Andrew Pratt advanced to the round of 16 before being eliminated by decision.

At 165 pounds, John Lagana earned a dominant 19-4 victory by technical fall in the opening round before falling by major decision in the round of 16. Both Connor Tuttle and Lucas Rosen were eliminated in the opening round.

In the 174-pound weight class, Tucker Vician registered a 3-0 victory by fall to advance to the round of 16, where he was defeated by major decision. Alexander Hurly earned an 18-0 victory by technical fall over his Rhode Island College opponent before falling by decision in the round of 16.

At 184 pounds, Nick Crotty earned three straight victories to advance to the quarterfinals. Dylan Sofield was eliminated by fall in the opening round.

The Bantams will return to action next Saturday, December 7th, at the Rochester Institute of Technology, with competition starting at 9 a.m.
